About the Coaching /Mentoring Alliance

At QCMC we believe firmly in the importance of a coaching /mentoring alliance. We work with you in partnership, Our role is to empower and enable you, leaving you as an individual  more able to address your challenges.

Coaching and mentoring take place through confidential conversations and follow-up between sessions.  The role of the coach or mentor is to:

  • help clients find their own solutions through active listening
  • put questions which stimulate broader thinking
  • raise awareness of what is happening (and how it could be different)
  • support clients to be creative
  • encourage the formation of action plans
  • sustain clients through implementation of their changes.

Typically, coaching is non-directive: coaches use their skills to draw out and develop the inner resources of the coachee, whereas mentoring can be more directive, drawing on the wisdom and  business experience of the mentor. The precise process is agreed on an individual basis.
